Brachycome "Mixture of colours" (Swan River Daisy).
Very graceful, strongly branched, annual plant 15-25 cm tall, with graceful leaves and basket-shaped inflorescences 3-4 cm in diameter.
Blooms profusely from mid-June to October. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils and sunny positions.
Seeds ripen in September and remain viable for 2-3 years. 1.0 g = 6000 seeds.

Not only the petals, but also the center of the inflorescence can have different colors. The center of the flower-basket can be yellow (like daisies), brown or almost black.
When planted in a container, the delicate brachycoma soon begins to bend, so it can be used as an ampelous plant.
An additional decoration of the brachycoma is the deeply dissected pinnate foliage. Thanks to the combination of openwork foliage and small flowers of a sky-blue color, the whole plant looks airy and weightless.
The only disadvantage of this annual is a not very long flowering period. To extend the flowering period, you need to trim and feed the bushes after the end of the first wave of flowering. It is also recommended to sow the seeds in several stages with an interval of 2 weeks.

Agricultural technology.
Sowing for seedlings is carried out in March in boxes with light sandy soil. Seeds are slightly pressed into the soil, without sprinkling with earth. The landing container is covered with glass and placed in a lighted place. At a temperature of +20°C, shoots appear on the 8-12th day. Seedlings dive into the phase of 2-3 true leaves. Seedlings are planted in May.
For better branching, pinch the tops of young plants.
It is used to decorate flowerbeds, borders, alpine slides, as pot culture.

Swan River Daisy, Brachycome.

* Brachycome iberidifolia Benth.
Homeland: Australia.
A very graceful, highly branched, annual plant 15-25 cm high, with pinnately dissected leaves, arranged in an alternate order. The bushes bear numerous small inflorescences-baskets 3-3.5 cm in diameter. Petals of various colors: white, blue, purple or lilac-pink, are arranged in one row.
Blooms profusely from mid-June for 75-90 days. Seeds ripen in September and remain viable for 2-3 years.
Location: the plant loves light and heat. Requires open, sunny places.
Soil: it achieves its greatest decorative effect on light, even somewhat dry, but nutritious garden soils.
Care: watering is only necessary in dry weather and when the soil dries out. For abundant flowering, fertilizing with complete mineral fertilizers is recommended, starting a week after picking and continuing until flowering begins, with intervals of 10-14 days.
Reproduction: sowing seeds in March-April in greenhouses. Seedlings appear on the 5-7th day. Planting in a permanent place is carried out after the end of frosts. The distance between plants is 15-20 cm. In culture: since 1843.
It is not very widespread, but deserves the widest use, especially in the southern regions.
